Home Row Keys

The Home Row refers to the placement of a persons hands when positioned on a keyboard.  This is the position from which all keystrokes begin and end.

The Home Row Keys are: A S D F J K L ;

Tip: The home row keys “F” and “J” have a raised tab.  Use these tabs to easily place your hands on the home row without looking at the keyboard.

The fingers used for the home row keys will also be used for corresponding keys on the top and bottom row.  Your fingers should return to the home row position after each keystroke. Become comfortable with placing your hands in this position.  The Home Row keys are the foundation for learning to type.
